Sutton MA:
Waters Farm in West
Sutton, Massachusetts has secured permission from Jeanne
Waters Strong, to republish her book, “One Waters Family”.
Although she writes of her own branch of the Waters
family, the book in its early chapters covers a multitude of
present day Waters descendants.
Ms. Strong devoted more
than thirty years to the research of this book, traveling
throughout the New England area and the United
Kingdom to locate old
parchment documents such as wills, parish registers, and
Ironmonger Guild records. She says of her work, “My book is
deposited at the Library of Congress as well as more than fifty
libraries all over the United States”.
Ms. Strong is the second
cousin five times removed of the builder of the 1757 main house
at Waters Farm, Stephen Waters.
Family history records that John Waters, great-grandfather of
Stephen, signed his name with an “X” on all legal documents
which also

had to be witnessed in
writing by a “literate person”. John’s
5th great-grandson, William Howard Taft, went on to
become the 27th President of the United States and
the only president to have been Chief Justice as well.
But President Taft isn’t
the only USA President on the Waters family tree.
Calvin Coolidge, Prez #30, is another.
